Role DescriptionThis is a full-time Tax Director role, on-site or hybrid, reporting directly to ownership, and based in Leominster, MA. The Tax Director oversees tax planning, compliance, and problem solving for a diverse client base, ensuring adherence to current tax laws and regulations. The role combines technical review, client advisory, project management, and team leadership, and is well suited to an experienced professional who wants both substantive client work and a hand in developing the next generation of our team and our tax tech stack.

Responsibilities• Review and sign on behalf of the firm individual, business, fiduciary tax, gift and occasional estate tax returns, including multi-state returns, while ensuring technical quality and timeliness
• Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize client liabilities and surface new opportunities
• Manage tax engagements and projects, including scheduling, workflow, and deadline monitoring
• Research and interpret federal, state, and local tax issues, and communicate conclusions clearly to clients and staff; stay current on tax law changes
• Represent clients before the IRS and state tax authorities on notices, audits, and other matters
• Advising on complex tax situations and scenarios
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a trusted year-round advisor
• Mentor, train, and review the work of staff and senior accountants, supporting their professional growth
• Business development opportunities, with origination credit related compensation
Qualifications• CPA certification required, along with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Masters of Science in Taxation a plus
• 6 years of recent public accounting experience, including review and client-relationship responsibility
• Deep tax compliance and planning experience, ensuring filings adhere to federal, state, and local regulations, as it relates to individuals, S and C corporations, partnerships, estates and trusts
• Strong understanding of tax law hierarchy and its application to diverse client scenarios
• Ability to analyze and interpret complex tax regulations and apply them effectively
• Excellent communication, client service and team relationship skills; ability to distill complex tax topics to relay to clients
• Proficiency in managing multiple engagements and competing projects and deadlines
• Ability to lead and mentor team members, with a commitment to fostering professional development and growth in others

Familiarity with these tools is a plus, but not required.
