POSITION SUMMARY
Assist the Vocational Counselor Supervisor in the development and administration of the Compliance Department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Completes Initial and Annual Individual Eligibility Evaluations of disabled employees according to AbilityOne’s regulations.
- Orders and reviews disabled employees’ medical assessments and doctor’s work restrictions to determine eligibility, disability status and accommodations required.
- Conducts assessments with employees and supervisors to obtain information necessary for AbilityOne evaluation process.
- Conducts interviews for applicants who accept to participate in affirmative action programs.
- Determines job accommodations needed when employees submit additional information regarding their medical condition. Confers with line managers and supervisors to ensure the proper and effective provision of such accommodations.
- Provides training to supervisors and department managers to promote disability awareness.
- Helps employees, supervisors, and department managers to resolve disability-related conflicts with disabled employees through advice and recommendation.
- Monitor employees’ progress and provide ongoing support to address any challenges or issues that arise.
- Establish and maintain relationships with supervisors to facilitate job placements and advocate for employees’ needs.
- Ensure that all documentation is up-to-date and readily accessible for internal and external review.
- Responsible for the creation of subcommittees.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed on the job analysis are representative of the skill, and/or ability required.
Education: Master’s degree or equivalent experience in the health-care field or Rehabilitation Counseling.
Experience: Two years of professional level experience in counseling, healthcare or work with persons with disabilities.
Specific Skills: Bilingual: English/Spanish. English and Spanish proficiency required. Detail oriented, logical, and methodological approach to problem solving.
Other Skills and Abilities: Strong proficiency using Microsoft Office; Strong oral and written communication skills; Demonstrated capability to interface with employees and maintain effective relationship with department personnel in a team- oriented environment. Ability to build rapport and work effectively with diverse populations. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.: High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential information. Full knowledge of the AbilityOne program and SourceAmerica’s regulations.
Physical Demands: Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Frequently sits, bends, kneels, reach out with hands/arms. Must be able to lift/move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individual with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
