Job Title: Food Processing Maintenance Technician
Job Summary:
The Food Processing Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing food processing equipment and facility systems to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous production. This position supports production by minimizing equipment downtime while maintaining compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on food processing and packaging equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and conveyor system failures.
- Troubleshoot motors, pumps, gearboxes, valves, sensors, and control systems.
- Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
- Install, modify, and test production equipment and machinery.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify wear, safety concerns, and potential equipment failures.
- Complete work orders and maintain accurate maintenance records using a computerized maintenance management system (Certdox).
- Ensure all repairs comply with food safety standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), OSHA regulations, and company policies.
- Work closely with production, quality assurance, and sanitation teams to support efficient operations.
- Assist with equipment startups, changeovers, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance work area.
- Participate in emergency maintenance and on-call coverage as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or vocational training in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or a related field preferred.
- Two or more years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a food processing or manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of electrical systems, motors, controls, PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs and CMMS software.
- Basic welding, fabrication, and machining skills are preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
- Work in refrigerated, wet, hot, noisy, and fast-paced production environments.
- Ability to work overtime or rotating shifts as needed. (No weekends)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience maintaining food processing, packaging, or automated production equipment.
- Knowledge of HACCP, SQF, GMP, and food safety regulations.
- PLC troubleshooting experience (Allen-Bradley or Siemens preferred).
- Food manufacturing experience.
- Forklift, aerial lift, or electrical certifications are a plus.

Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
