**Salary Range is $22.00 - $26.67 per hour DOE**


General Summary: 

                                                                                                         

MPM Construction is seeking a dependable Utility Construction Laborer to join our growing team. The Utility Construction Laborer position is a seasonal position that assists underground construction crews with the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground telecommunications and power systems. The Utility Construction Laborer will follow safety regulations and be able to take instructions. Additionally, the successful candidate will possess the ability to positively interact with the public and staff in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, while remaining calm, focused, resourceful and efficient.


Essential Job Functions:

 

  • Assisting underground construction crews install cable and conduit
  • Exposing existing underground utilities
  • Digging trenches and holes using hand tools (shovels, etc.)
  • Assist with traffic control setup
  • Ensures sites are kept clean and safe
  • Maintains current industry knowledge by utilizing various resources and attending training
  • Works with safety awareness of the considerable hazards related to construction and maintenance
  • Uses protective equipment and safety practices and procedures.
  • Regular, reliable, consistent and punctual attendance is required
  • Responsible for duties as described in the general summary and any/all other duties as assigned by manager and/or supervisor


Qualifications:                                                             

 

  • Basic knowledge of construction industry
  • Basic writing skills to accurately complete reports and other paperwork
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers, customers and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions using information at hand
  • Ability to effectively function as a team player
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to perform duties in a safe, professional manner
  • Highly motivated and a self-starter with willingness to learn
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess Driver’s License. A valid and clear driving record required.


Education and Experience:   

 

A high school Diploma/GED. General laborer experience preferred. Will train the right candidate.

License: Driver’s License. Valid and clear driving record required.

 

Hours and Travel: This work week for this position is 40 hours per week. This position is a local position. No overnight travel is required. Minimal work on the weekends.
