What are the responsibilities and job description for the READING INTERVENTION INSTRUCTOR position at Reading to be Ready, Inc.?
OVERVIEW:
Reading to be Ready is a not-for-profit organization. We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for educating young minds, and fostering a positive learning environment. The individual will instruct a scripted reading intervention program to students who are struggling readers in the Lake Worth Beach area. The program is instructed after school for two to three days a week for two and half hours a day.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential functions of the role may include but are not limited to the following:
- Implementing the instructional reading program, assessments, and lesson plans.
- Support each child’s social, emotional and intellectual growth and development.
- Ensure the wellbeing and safety of children at all times.
- Ensure the classroom environment is safe and clean.
- Implement the curriculum as stated in the Leveled Literacy Instruction (LLI) System and Lesson Guide.
- Implement class’ and/or students’ Instructional Plan.
- Plan, prepare and deliver lessons and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
- Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
- Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
- Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the program.
- Provide appropriate feedback to students.
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
- Prepare required reports on students and activities.
- Participate in parent meetings, team meetings, and staff professional training.
- Prepare the classroom for learning activities.
- Observe and evaluate students’ performance and development.
- Communicate necessary information regularly to the Executive Program Director regarding students’ progress and students’ needs.
- Comply with state, school, and class rules and regulations.
- Encourage parent and community involvement.
- Any other responsibilities as deemed necessary.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT:
- Professional development is required and will be provided by Reading to be Ready, Inc.
HIRING REQUIREMENT:
- Background checks are required prior to the start date.
- Medical Clearance
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

$35/hour
