Position Title: High School Head Coach (SPRING)
Reports To: Director of Athletics

Position Goal
The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while promoting and maintaining safe conditions in accordance with PIAA, league, sports medicine and RSD policies/procedures. Furthermore the candidate will be responsible for assisting student-athletes to establish a life after high school while instilling Red Knight pride, connecting with youth programs, teaching education through athletics, fundraising, assisting the Director of Athletics with management of assistant coaches, middle school coaches and high school game scheduling

Qualifications
- Must be a minimum age of 18 years old.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Preferable experience working in a supervision role in athletics, recreation, education, or related fields.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively communicate with adults and students in a diverse work environment.
- Supervise high school assistant coaches/middle school coaches
- Supervise student athletes
- Stay current with current rules, coaching techniques, schemes, and best practices
- Assist with high school game schedule
- Monitor student-athletes to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Place student-athletes in positions to succeed not only in their sport, but also in life
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills including communication skills with sports medicine staff, game workers, officials, media, students, parents, spectators, and facility staff.
- Ensures that all possible safety measures are observed, including taking proper care of equipment and proper surveillance of program participants.
- Attend all training sessions and any additional staff meetings.
- Work flexible hours including off season training, early mornings, afternoon/evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Verify student-athletes are eligible by PIAA and Reading School District Athletic policies.
- Demonstrates the ability to plan and manage practices/training sessions.
- Secure equipment and facilities after each usage
- Communicate with RSD admin, safe schools, custodial services and/or RPD as needed.
- Communicate with youth groups and foster participation growth
- Be a good role model to student-athletes
- Distribute, collect and track uniforms/equipment
- Report game scores to Athletic Department & media following contests
- Requisition necessary equipment
- Support all RSD athletics
- Physically perform all skills required of a coach.
- Hear noises and distress signals in a crowded athletic facility.
- Able to withstand extreme weather conditions
- Able to lift at least 20 pounds.
