Reports To: Building Principal
Position Goal: To assist the Principal with activities to engage parents in the educational process of their children.

High school diploma or its equivalent. Knowledge of parenting goals. Understanding of socioeconomic class and cultural backgrounds of families and how to interpret culture of school to them. Ability to think and act in ways that respect ethnic, cultural, and linguistic diversity. Knowledge and experience as an assistant or other voluntary experience in school building. Bilingual English/Spanish required.
Language Skills
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit at a desk/table for limited periods of time. Stand for limited/extended periods of time. The employee is frequently required to bend, stoop, twist, lift, reach and grasp.

- Develop programs and activities designed to engage families in improving student achievement.
- Help teachers and other staff members develop strong partnerships with families and enhance communication between parents and families and the school staff.
- Develop and implement effective family involvement strategies and activities to empower students and their families.
- Take part in opportunities for professional development.
- Participate in and support school and district activities and programs for families.
- Help to recruit community partners to become part of the school and district's family involvement program.
- Make home visits and telephone calls to parents as deemed necessary by building administrator.
