Job Summary

Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) is seeking a SeniorProduct Manager to lead the execution of the Skybrary ebook application product roadmap including ownership of the Skybrary product website as a key tool in driving awareness, acquisition, and product growth in education and consumer sectors. This role requires a product leader who can champion the user experience across both the app and the product marketing site, while ensuring that the structure, functionality, and performance of each align to broader organizational and product objectives. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, engineering, content, and vendors to create scalable, user-centered experiences

Skybrary is a reading e-book application owned by Reading Is Fundamental (RIF), the nation's largest nonprofit organization dedicated to children's literacy. Skybrary is an interactive digital library designed to engage children in reading through a diverse and extensive collection of e-books, videos, and educational resources. RIF's mission is to inspire a joy of reading and provide children with equitable access to high-quality, engaging reading materials that support their literacy development.

What You'll Do

Product Ownership

  • Support the delivery of the product strategy, roadmap, and execution for the Skybrary e-book application and its supporting product marketing website.
  • Define product and web goals that align with both user needs and organizational KPIs—including reach, engagement, activation, and retention.
  • Own site functionality, ensuring the product marketing site supports SEO, product storytelling, trial/conversion funnels, and performance tracking.
  • Ensure consistency between product and web experiences in tone, voice, visual styling, and feature access points.

Data Driven Decision Making

  • Build and manage data pipelines for both the app and product marketing site to gather insights and inform product priorities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure product metrics (downloads, signups, trials, conversions) are measurable and reportable across platforms.
  • Use market research, competitive analysis, and user feedback to identify opportunities for feature development and improvement across both app and web.
  • Regularly report to the Director of Digital Products on product performance and user behavior across channels.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for both the app and website.

User-Centered Solution Design

  • Champion user needs and establish scalable usability feedback and testing methods.
  • Write clear product requirements and user stories for both Skybrary feature. development and product marketing site enhancements (such as CTA flows, signup journeys, or landing page performance improvements).

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with internal teams (development, content, programs, marketing) and external partners to prioritize features and content.
  • Lead sprint planning and backlog grooming in collaboration with the engineering team, ensuring that work is prioritized, well-defined, and aligned with product goals and user impact.
  • Work closely with engineering, design, content, marketing, and external vendors to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.
  • Facilitate agile development processes including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and user testing.
  • Serve as the voice of the user, advocating for intuitive and inclusive experiences.

Website Ownership & Optimization

  • Serve as the primary owner of the Skybrary product website, overseeing its structure, content, functionality, and performance.
  • Ensure the website effectively supports user acquisition, engagement, and retention strategies.
  • Collaborate with marketing and design teams to optimize SEO, conversion funnels, and content strategy.
  • Monitor and improve site performance, accessibility, and user experience across devices.
  • Lead product lifecycle from ideation to launch and iteration.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 6 years of experience in digital product management, including experience managing both mobile applications and web-based platforms.
  • 6 years of cross-functional or direct leadership experience, including interfacing with marketing and engineering teams.Â
  • Strong ability to analyze product and site performance, conduct user research, and turn insights into action.
  • Proven experience delivering user-centered experiences across platforms; familiarity with conversion optimization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of translating technical and analytical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working with nonprofit organizations or mission-driven teams.
  • Familiarity with CMS platforms (e.g., Drupal) and app development technologies (e.g., React Native).
