Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for students, staff, and visitors. This includes performing daily cleaning routines, light maintenance, and supporting school events and facility operations. The Custodian plays a vital role in ensuring a healthy and welcoming school setting. Success in this role requires a strong work ethic, keen attention to detail, and the ability to carry out a variety of cleaning and upkeep tasks efficiently and reliably.
Responsibilities
- Clean classrooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, cafeteria, gymnasium, and other school areas daily
- Empty trash and recycling bins; dispose of waste according to policies
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and disinfect floors and carpets
- Sanitize high-touch surfaces such as doorknobs, handrails, and desks
- Refill supplies including soap, paper towels, and toilet paper
- Set up and take down tables, chairs, and equipment for school functions
- Perform minor repairs (e.g., changing light bulbs, fixing door handles)
- Monitor and report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel
- Maintain janitorial equipment and supply inventory
- Lock and unlock school buildings as needed
- Comply with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations
Skills
- Proven experience in custodial services is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of floor care techniques and equipment operation.
- Ability to maintain cleanliness.
- Familiarity with facilities maintenance practices is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with staff and management.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.04 per hour
Expected hours: 8 per week
