Position Overview
Reading Bakery Systems is seeking an on-site Technical Writer to support documentation development for complex industrial bakery equipment projects.
This role reports directly to the Senior Director of Project Management and is responsible for producing complete technical documentation packages that support engineered-to-order equipment systems.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience writing manuals for industrial or engineered equipment and is comfortable working directly with engineers, project managers, and manufacturing teams.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain technical manuals for industrial bakery equipment
- Create detailed documentation explaining equipment functionality and food processing systems
- Support project documentation deliverables tied to customer equipment orders
- Organize and lead project risk assessment documentation
- Maintain industry standards documentation (OSHA, ANSI, CE, CSA, etc.)
- Develop technical animations using 3D modeling and machine assembly software
- Create and manage video-based training documentation
- Support factory training program content
MUST-HAVES
- Minimum 3–5 years of technical writing experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or engineered equipment environment
- Demonstrated experience creating technical manuals for mechanical or electro-mechanical equipment
(Not software-only documentation) - Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and mechanical assemblies
- Experience working directly with engineers to gather and validate technical content
- Experience supporting compliance, safety, or risk documentation (OSHA, ANSI, CE, CSA, etc.)
- On-site availability in Robesonia, PA (no remote or hybrid)
Strong Preferences
- Experience with 3D modeling and machine assembly animation software
- Background in food processing or industrial equipment
- Engineering degree (Mechanical preferred) or technical associate degree
- Experience creating training videos or multimedia documentation
- Experience in a project-based manufacturing environment
