Job Title: Classroom Assistant Preschool Floater
Summary:
The Classroom Assistant will float around the preschool and work to support the Head and Associate Teachers in classrooms to ensure that the developmental goals of Reade Street Prep’s programs are being met. The teacher will work as a substitute, support teacher, and helper throughout the facility, as needed. The Classroom Assistant is expected to work collegially with other staff members at Reade Street Prep.
Core duties and responsibilities include the following:
Flexibility to work in various classrooms, as needed throughout the school, as a support to the Head Teacher and Associate Teacher, across the age groups.
Assist the Head Teacher and Associate Teacher in the organization and execution of developmentally appropriate learning experiences and care-giving that promotes physical, mental, and social development.
Help gather and prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
Manage and conduct nap and lunch protocols for classrooms.
Adapt instruction and materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests. Ensure lessons and activities are creative, interactive, and engaging for all students.
Exhibit professional conduct with parents and colleagues.
Establish and maintain positive, cooperative, and effective relationships with staff.
Arrive to school at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start of each class and remain for a reasonable time after each session to ensure the room is left in proper order.
