Basic Requirements (All Positions)
- Age: Minimum 18 years old
- Education: High school diploma or GED
- Experience: Working with children ages 3-5, preferably in licensed childcare setting
- Certifications: Adult, Child, and Infant CPR within 6 months; basic first aid knowledge
- Professional Competencies: Excellent communication skills, ability to maintain confidentiality, flexibility for varying schedules
- Language: Bilingual in Hmong and/or Spanish preferred
- Additional: Experience with low-income, multicultural families preferred
- Completion of Intro to Child Care Profession (or equivalent ECE course) required by Wisconsin licensing OR must complete within 6 months
- Completion of Intro to Child Care Profession (or equivalent ECE course)
- Documentation of enrollment and completion of minimum one course toward Preschool Credential OR CDA
As a Classroom Aide, you'll partner with the Classroom Teacher to:
- Assist in developing and implementing activities that promote children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
- Support programming for children ages 3-5 in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards
- Ensure compliance with Wisconsin Child Care Licensing, City of Madison Accreditation, and Wisconsin Young Star standards
- Build positive relationships with children, families, staff, and community members
- Maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
- Support multicultural and multilingual learning experiences
- Assist with daily classroom routines and activities
- Work collaboratively under the direction of the Classroom Teacher
