Science Teacher ( Grade 7) Short Term

This position is for a short Term 7th Grade Science Position

Our school days runs for 6:50AM - 2:30PM (one day a week until 4:00 for planning)

We have a very competitive salary scale that pays higher than most local districts. Our starting salary for a 1st year teacher with no prior experience starts at $45,000, with valid teaching certification and $40,000 if working towards teaching certification. Salary increases with years of prior experience. Will give up to 10 years of prior credit.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare lesson plans that engage, stimulate and instruct students;
• Instruct students based on the REACH curriculum and utilize available instructional technologies in the classroom;
• Regularly evaluate student performance, and monitor for achievement of state standards;
• Act as a role model by making your students feel motivated while maintaining an approachable personality;
• Regularly communicate with parents and legal guardians regarding child's performance, track and record student progress and keep records up to date for progress reports and report card conferences;
• Provide a classroom management plan ensuring safety at all times;
• Execute daily lesson plans for all assigned blocks;
• Implement all REACH routines and procedures with fidelity;
• Submit lesson plans and unit plans in a timely manner;
• Instruct scholars in line with the lessons and curriculum that REACH Academy Charter School has developed;
• Actively participate in all professional development and coaching sessions as well as weekly team planning;
• Incorporate feedback from coaches in a timely manner;
• Consistently analyze scholar data and engage in self-reflection on practices;
• Prepare scholars for the NYS Science exam;
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School
  
  

Qualifications/Education and/or Experience

It is preferred but not required that teachers hold a NYS professional teaching certificate in their subject area or be eligible for reciprocity to include (1) Minimum Bachelor's degree in subject area to be taught, Master's Degree preferred; (2) Proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom and commitment to accountability preferred ; (3) Belief in and alignment with REACH Academy Charter School core beliefs and educational philosophy; (4) Valid New York State Certification, except in cases where the Head of School shall make an exception under the terms of this Policy, in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Salary

In accordance with REACH Academy Charter School's salary step scale and verification of prior years of teaching. Step 1 starts at $45,000 and Step 11 is $65,830. You must have a valid teaching certificate to start on the salary steps or be working towards completion of certification.
