What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Coach Softball position at RE-1 Valley School District?
- Coordination of varsity and lower-level teams.
- Development of expectations and direction of the softball program.
- Tracking of eligibility and academic progress of students.
- Preparation of teams for competition.
- Teaching fundamental and advanced skills.
- Attend coaches' meetings, league coaches’ meetings, and professional development.
- Communication with parents, players, staff, and media via RE-1 Valley School District-approved media.
- Following school district regulations and policies.
- Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for effective performance in the activity, as individuals & team members.
- Plans and directs a regular program of practice in season.
- Maintains competency in rules, regulations, and coaching techniques for the sport/activity.
- Maintains discipline and sportsmanlike conduct of all participants and enforces the policies of the District uniformly when disciplining participants.
- Supervises student athletes when traveling.
- Oversees the safety conditions for students and facility, and the areas in which the sport is conducted during all times students are present.
- Demonstrates cooperative conduct.
- Shares in responsibility for equipment, distribution, collection and inventory.

- High School Diploma or equivalent

- Willing and able to drive to away games, camps, scrimmages
- Knowledgeable in the techniques and strategies for the sport/activity.
- Ability to read & interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to follow both oral and written directions & instructions from the athletic director.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing, with students, parents, staff and the community.
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of employment and student matters.
- Ability to perform duties with an awareness of all district requirements and board policies.
- Ability to effectively manage time and responsibilities.
- Other qualifications as deemed necessary by the athletic director.
- At least 3 years of high school and/or college coaching experience.
- Knowledge of all aspects of senior high school activity programming.
- Proven leadership qualities and successful experience in working with high school students.
- Background/experience in coaching high school softball, or equivalent
