The purpose of the Lessons Learned Program is to save lives, resources, and time through aggressive global collection, analysis, outreach, and dissemination of relevant U.S. Special Operations Forces observations, insights, and lessons to the Special Operations Forces (SOF) warfighter and Joint Community. The best candidate will be a strong team player with strong writing and research skills, and a background in operations and/or intelligence analysis.
Specific duties include:
Assist with the collection, archiving, analysis, resolution, and dissemination of observations, insights, and lessons learned. Use systems within a collaborative environment to support the program through proactive lessons learned sharing, peer review, and facilitation between supported SOF elements and other stakeholders. Document special project staff roles, responsibilities, organization and processes for best practices and efficiencies that support the Command’s Mission and Vision. Leverage cross-functional military Services and government agencies analytical studies and LL to recommend adjustments to organizational processes. Compile Before Action Reports, After Action Reports, Executive Summaries, Post Activity Bulletins and Requests for Information. Documentation shall be complete and include substantiated findings and recommendations, consistent with a high level of quality control and ready for distribution. The documentation shall also be audience-specific and captured at the appropriate security level. Brief and advise senior leaders and staff on lessons learned. Support and use the Joint Lessons Learned Program database. Assist in the development and refinement of the lessons learned database and query functions. Brief and/or facilitate senior leader discussions on counterterrorism topics. Support the customer as required and be willing to travel OCONUS.
