Job Summary
RDF&P is a fast-paced, team-oriented company looking for a Blaster. We are a custom metal fabrication shop that works on anything from structural pedestals for the semiconductor industry to handrails for local colleges. We have two Oregon locations; The Forest Grove shop, where this job is located, focuses on raised floors/pedestals and miscellaneous steel fabrication. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Blaster for Powdercoating to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing metal surfaces through blasting processes to ensure optimal adhesion of powder coating finishes. Your expertise will help deliver high-quality, durable coatings on a variety of industrial and commercial metal products. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with heavy equipment and contribute to the manufacturing and finishing process in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment. A flexible schedule is a must. Crews will be working various hours depending on workload with possible mandatory overtime when required. OSHA-compliant work boots (paid for by the employee) are required. Pre-employment drug screening applies.
Duties
- Operate heavy equipment such as sandblasters and other blasting machinery to clean and prepare surfaces for powder coating
- Set up and calibrate blasting equipment according to project specifications and safety standards
- Inspect metal components for surface defects or contamination before blasting
- Maintain proper containment and disposal of abrasive materials in compliance with environmental regulations
- Collaborate with the coating team to ensure surfaces are prepared efficiently for powder application
- Follow all safety protocols including OSHA standards, wearing appropriate protective gear at all times
- Perform routine maintenance on blasting equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety
- Hold the pressurized hose over the shoulder and manipulate the direction of the blast
- Able to use hand tools and other production equipment as needed
- Operate forklift
- Sweep and maintain the blast room area
- Ensure conformance to specifications
- Take instructions from supervisors
- Use proper lifting techniques and always follow safe work procedures
- Attention to detail a must
- Physical stamina and strength to handle a heavy pressurized hose are required

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
