Data Scientist - $200K

A Data Scientist SME is needed to support high-priority open-source data collection and processing efforts. The role focuses on designing, deploying, and maintaining rapid-turnaround AWS-based solutions that handle diverse and complex data types. The position requires close collaboration with technical leads and mission partners to ensure solutions meet operational and tradecraft needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain AWS capabilities for fast, mission-critical data collection.
• Apply AI/ML to extract and index content from varied structured and unstructured data (text, multimedia, tabular, nested).
• Perform data engineering tasks: cleaning, modeling, formatting unknown data types.
• Transfer data across cloud environments and validate formatting.
• Manage AWS resources (EC2, Lambda, S3, IAM) and maintain code in GitHub with proper documentation.
• Conduct operations and maintenance to adapt solutions to evolving targets, technologies, and data formats.
  
  

Required Skills:

• Strong Python experience.
• Experience with geospatial tools, libraries, and data formats.
• Hands-on expertise creating and managing AWS infrastructure.
• Proficiency with GitHub.
  
  

Desired Skills:

• AWS CDK deployment experience.
• Experience with containerized applications.
• Experience with search engines (Elasticsearch, Lucene, OpenSearch).
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Exposure to other cloud platforms (GCP, Azure).
• Relevant AWS certifications (DevOps, Solutions Architect, SysOps)
