Duties
- Install, wire, and troubleshoot electrical systems in commercial and industrial settings using schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints to accurately execute projects.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, multimeters such as ohmmeters, and other electrical testing equipment to diagnose issues and verify system integrity.
- Work with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), low voltage systems, and high voltage circuits to ensure seamless operation of automated equipment.
- Follow NEC (National Electrical Code) standards to ensure all installations meet safety and compliance requirements.
- Conduct renovation projects by updating or replacing existing wiring, fixtures, or panels with precision craftsmanship.
- Collaborate on construction sites with other trades such as frame carpentry and general contractors to coordinate project timelines and ensure quality standards are met.
- Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including schematics updates and inspection reports.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols while working on construction sites or in potentially hazardous environments involving high voltage or low voltage systems.
Skills
- Proven experience as an industrial electrician or commercial electrician with a strong understanding of electrical systems in construction environments.
- Skilled in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams for accurate installation and troubleshooting.
- Proficient with hand tools, power tools, ohmmeters, multimeters, and other diagnostic equipment essential for electrical work.
- Experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for automation tasks.
- Knowledge of NEC standards governing electrical installations for safety compliance.
- Ability to work effectively on renovation projects involving existing wiring or systems upgrades.
- Construction site experience with the ability to adapt quickly to changing project needs while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
- Familiarity with low voltage systems such as security alarms or communication wiring; experience with high voltage circuits is a plus.
- Capable of reading schematics accurately and translating them into physical installations or repairs.
