About the Role:
Our firm has partnered with a well-established financial services company headquartered in Las Vegas, NV, to find a reliable and detail-oriented HR and Payroll Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about ensuring employees are supported through accurate and timely HR and payroll practices.
While on-site presence in Las Vegas or Hutchinson, Kansas is preferred, our client is open to considering remote candidates who demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process bi-weekly or semi-monthly payroll for multi-state employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Maintain and audit employee data in HR and payroll systems, including tax withholdings, direct deposit information, benefit deductions, and PTO accruals.
- Serve as the primary contact for employee payroll and HR-related questions, resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Support onboarding and offboarding processes, including setting up new hires in HRIS/payroll systems and processing terminations.
- Coordinate benefit enrollments and changes, assist during open enrollment periods, and provide general benefits support.
- Prepare payroll-related reports for finance and executive leadership, including labor cost summaries, tax filings, and compliance documentation.
- Ensure adherence to employment law requirements across multiple states, including wage and hour regulations.
- Assist with audits, year-end processing, and filings such as W-2s, 1095-Cs, and EEO-1 reports.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in payroll processing and HR operations in a multi-state environment.
- Hands-on experience with at least one major payroll system. Familiarity with multiple platforms is a plus. Common platforms include: ADP Workforce Now, Paychex, Paylocity, Paycom, UKG/UltiPro, Gusto, QuickBooks Payroll, Ceridian Dayforce
- Strong working knowledge of HRIS platforms and employee record management.
- Solid understanding of federal and state payroll tax laws, wage and hour regulations, and employment law compliance.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage confidential data with integrity.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with data, spreadsheets, and reports.
- Experience in a financial services or regulated industry is a plus.
