Senior Multi‑Axis CNC Machining Specialist

RCR Motorsports
Lexington, NC Other
POSTED ON 7/29/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 8/27/2026
A day on the floor

You arrive to a clean, organized cell, review the traveler, and pull up the latest drawing. After dialing in your setup on mills, lathes, or a multi‑axis center, you verify tool offsets, dry‑run the program, and make the first cut. You confirm dimensions with micrometers and calipers, capture first‑article results, and tune feeds and speeds to hit both tolerance and cycle‑time goals. Before handoff, you document to AS9100 expectations, tidy your area to 5S standards, and huddle with engineers and programmers to suggest a smarter fixture for the next run.

Your impact
  • Set up and run CNC milling, turning, and multi‑axis machining equipment to produce complex, tight‑tolerance parts.
  • Translate blueprints, engineering drawings, and instructions into reliable machining strategies.
  • Hold demanding tolerances while maximizing accuracy, efficiency, and throughput.
  • Monitor machine behavior; adjust tooling, offsets, and parameters to maintain quality and productivity.
  • Inspect work using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges; complete documentation as required.
  • Perform routine maintenance and assist in troubleshooting to keep equipment production‑ready.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly workspace consistent with 5S and company safety practices.
  • Partner with engineers, programmers, and fellow machinists to refine processes and eliminate waste.
  • Support AS9100 quality standards and drive continuous improvement actions.
What you bring
  • High school diploma or GED; additional technical schooling or machining certification preferred.
  • 7 years of hands‑on CNC machining experience.
  • Expertise reading and interpreting drawings and blueprints.
  • Proficiency with precision measurement and inspection tools.
  • Working knowledge of G‑code and CNC programming concepts.
  • Strong mechanical intuition and practical problem‑solving skills.
  • A quality‑first mindset with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Independence on the machine and a collaborative approach with the team.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods.
Nice to have
  • Background with Okuma machines and OSP controls.
  • Multi‑axis machining experience.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, motorsports, or other precision manufacturing settings.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 systems.
  • Familiarity with first‑article inspections, process travelers, and manufacturing documentation.
