We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Finance to lead our financial operations and drive fiscal excellence across the organization. Position Summary:
The Director of Finance provides strategic leadership for the Finance Department, managing a budget of over $8 million and supporting over 120 staff members. Reporting to the Executive Director, this key leadership role oversees the fiscal health of programs including Head Start, Community Services, and Public Transportation.
Job Duties:
- Fiscal Oversight: Ensure proper receipt, documentation, and disbursement of all funds, maintaining cash flow across diverse federal and state funding streams.
- Audit & Compliance: Coordinate the annual agency audit; lead the resolution of audit exceptions and implement recommendations. Ensure all records meet timetables for state and federal monitoring (e.g., HHS, HUD, and CSBG).
- Strategic Reporting: Provide concise financial analysis and decision-making support for the Executive Director, Leadership Team, and Board of Directors.
- Budget Development: Collaborate with the Finance Committee and Program Directors to develop annual budgets and cost projections for the agency
- Internal Controls: Periodically review and test internal control systems to ensure the effectiveness of operations and compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
- Departmental Leadership: Supervise and train accounting support staff; maintain the agency’s chart of accounts and accounting manual.
- Tax & Asset Management: Review tax payments for accuracy and maintain capital asset depreciation schedules.
Qualifications:
- Education: Baccalaureate Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or Certified Management Accounting certification preferred
- Experience: Five years of professional accounting experience, with a strong preference for non-profit fund accounting.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of GAAP and OMB UniformGuidance (2 CFR 200).
- Communication: Outstanding interpersonal and written communication skills; ability to interact positively with senior leadership, funders, and external auditors.
- Professional Requirements: Valid driver’s license and the ability to manage change in a growing, solution-oriented environment.
Pay: $63,000.00 - $73,000.00 per year
