Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technician to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive technical expertise in HVAC systems, mechanical systems repair, and building automation systems. This role requires a proactive approach to diagnosing and resolving HVAC, refrigeration, and related mechanical issues across diverse property environments. The HVAC Technician will ensure optimal operation of heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment while maintaining safety standards and promoting energy efficiency.
Duties
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and ventilation systems with precision and adherence to safety protocols.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and building automation system diagrams to diagnose system faults efficiently.
- Perform electrical diagnostics using tools such as ohmmeters to identify wiring issues or component failures within complex mechanical systems.
- Conduct routine maintenance on HVAC/R equipment to prevent failures and extend operational lifespan.
- Repair plumbing components associated with HVAC systems and ensure proper integration with mechanical systems.
- Utilize welding techniques for repairs involving metal components or ductwork when necessary.
- Maintain compliance with EPA regulations related to refrigerant handling and ammonia refrigeration systems.
- Collaborate with property management teams to coordinate service schedules and address urgent mechanical issues promptly.
- Document all service activities thoroughly in maintenance logs for future reference and compliance purposes.
- Assist in the design or modification of HVAC systems to improve efficiency or meet new building requirements.
Experience
- Proven experience working as an HVAC service technician or in a similar mechanical repair role within construction or property maintenance environments.
- Extensive knowledge of HVAC design principles, schematics interpretation, and building automation systems integration.
- Hands-on experience with refrigeration systems, including ammonia refrigeration if applicable.
- Strong electrical diagnostic skills complemented by familiarity with electrical codes and safety standards such as EPA regulations for refrigerant handling.
- Mechanical knowledge encompassing boiler operation, equipment repair, welding techniques, and general maintenance practices.
- Experience working with field service operations across commercial or industrial properties is highly desirable.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required for transportation between job sites.
