POSITION OVERVIEW
The Bid Manager will usually work under the supervision of a Lead Bid Manager and will assist them in developing a proposal structure. The role also requires reviewing and editing previously written content where necessary and working with other bid team members to produce written bid responses and presentation collateral in line with deadlines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Careful examination and comprehension of all bid documents.
- Contributing to the preparation and submission of bids.
- Tracking bids until Award is made.
- Completing customer questionnaires and compliance documents.
- Manage Bid Database and Digital Bid Library.
- Record Request Submission.
- Ensuring compliance with company policies and commercial requirements.
- Ad Hoc reporting and investigation where required.
- Responsible for abiding by all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to the employee handbook, safe work practices, etc.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak, listen, and give full attention to verbal conversations effectively in English before groups of customers or employees of the organization, including answering questions, providing feedback and directions.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to use Microsoft programs including Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint with some proficiency.
- Ability to learn programs specific to the job such as client databases, intranet, video conferencing software, and time accounting software.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of a high school diploma or GED with three to six months related experience and/or training in construction, manufacturing, or a tangible product.
- A background or experience in a journalistic environment, be it a past role or a qualification (degree or equivalent). Experience in journalism helps a Bid Writer construct a bid that pulls together factual information gleaned from various sources in a format that is both interesting and comprehensive. Still, an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered, knowledge of general business principles and processes, quality standards for services, and coordination of resources.
- Valid and unencumbered state Driver's License.
