Razor is seeking an experienced Cyber Systems Engineer to support the administration, security, automation, and continuous monitoring of Linux-based systems within an AWS cloud environment. This position combines hands-on systems engineering with cybersecurity responsibilities, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration, scripting and automation, vulnerability remediation, patch management, system hardening, security monitoring, and cloud infrastructure optimization.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with RHEL, AWS, Bash scripting, Tenable/Nessus, DISA STIGs, and security-focused systems administration and will be comfortable troubleshooting complex technical issues, implementing security controls, automating operational processes, and supporting secure federal environments.

Hybrid Requirements
This is a Hybrid/Remote position located in Ft Belvoir, VA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, configure, maintain, and secure Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems within AWS environments
  • Perform privileged Linux system administration, troubleshooting, patching, configuration, and ongoing maintenance
  • Develop and maintain Bash scripts to automate system administration, monitoring, security, and remediation activities
  • Implement and configure cybersecurity tools across AWS infrastructure to maintain secure and compliant cloud environments
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments using Tenable/Nessus and analyze findings against DISA STIGs and applicable federal security baselines
  • Investigate and remediate vulnerabilities through patching, configuration changes, system hardening, and other corrective actions
  • Test patches, configuration changes, and software releases prior to deployment to minimize operational risk
  • Develop and maintain Splunk dashboards, searches, queries, and alerts to support continuous monitoring
  • Monitor system and security events to identify vulnerabilities, configuration issues, performance concerns, and operational risks
  • Evaluate AWS environments and recommend improvements to security, performance, reliability, resilience, and cost efficiency
  • Troubleshoot Linux, AWS infrastructure, cybersecurity tooling, and system integration issues and perform root-cause analysis
  • Implement and validate system-hardening requirements and applicable security controls
  • Support security audits, assessments, compliance reviews, and security-control validation activities
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, cybersecurity teams, cloud engineers, developers, and Government stakeholders to resolve technical issues and implement new capabilities
  • Research emerging technologies, security threats, vulnerabilities, and alternative technical solutions
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation covering system configurations, security requirements, remediation activities, operational procedures, and recommended improvements

Required Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience administering and supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems
  • Experience working within AWS cloud environments
  • Strong Linux command-line administration and system troubleshooting experience
  • Hands-on Bash scripting experience for automation and systems administration
  • Experience with Linux patch management, system hardening, and vulnerability remediation
  • Experience using vulnerability scanning and management tools such as Tenable or Nessus
  • Knowledge of DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and security configuration baselines
  • Experience implementing or supporting security controls within Linux or cloud environments
  • Experience troubleshooting complex technical issues and performing structured root-cause analysis
  • Ability to review technical and security findings, determine appropriate remediation actions, implement changes, and verify successful resolution
  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with infrastructure, cybersecurity, development, and Government/customer teams

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Splunk, including SPL queries, dashboard development, alerting, and infrastructure/security monitoring
  • Experience automating cybersecurity or infrastructure operations
  • Experience supporting Linux systems within federal or Department of Defense environments
  • Knowledge of AWS security services, IAM, networking, logging, and monitoring
  • Experience testing infrastructure changes, patches, or application deployments
  • Familiarity with Docker or other containerized application technologies
  • Experience with VMware, Proxmox, or other virtualization technologies
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, DevSecOps, or Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts
  • Experience supporting system security assessments, audits, or compliance activities
  • Security+, Linux+, RHCSA/RHCE, AWS, or similar technical certification

Salary : $120,000 - $140,000
