Role Description The SolidWorks Designer role at Rayco Fixture is a full-time, on-site position based in Sterling Heights, MI. The designer will create detailed 3D models and technical drawings for modular and custom fixtures using SolidWorks and other CAD tools. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing fixture concepts from customer requirements, collaborating with engineering and production teams, and refining designs for manufacturability, accuracy, and durability. The role involves reviewing specifications, performing basic engineering calculations, supporting R&D initiatives, and updating documentation to reflect design changes. The SolidWorks Designer will also assist in quality checks, contribute to continuous improvement of design standards, and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time and to specification.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), with demonstrated proficiency in SolidWorks and related design software.
- Technical Drawing abilities, including creating clear, accurate 2D drawings and 3D models for manufacturing and inspection.
- Background in Machine Design and Mechanical Engineering, with an understanding of materials, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience or interest in Research and Development (R&D), including prototyping, testing, and improving fixture designs.
- Relevant education such as an associate or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Familiarity with metrology, CMM applications, and precision measurement fixtures is highly beneficial.
