Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Utility Operator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting daily operations by maintaining equipment, ensuring safety standards, and assisting with various tasks. Your vital approach will help keep processes running smoothly, contributing to a safe and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities
- Read and record utility meters at both residential and commercial locations
- Ensure meters are working correctly to prevent billing errors
- Inspect meters and transponders for damage, defects, tampering, or malfunction, and report findings promptly
- Communicate with customers professionally
- Perform maintenance or repairs on broken water and/or sewer lines
- Maintain vehicle and equipment cleanliness and operational readiness
- Support troubleshooting efforts by identifying issues and communicating for repairs
- Install water and sewer taps for new service
- Other tasks as assigned
Skills
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently as part of daily tasks
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high safety standards
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and report issues promptly
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Physical stamina for walking, standing, and climbing
- Accuracy and observational skills for reading meters
- Problem-solving ability to address reading discrepancies
Pay: From $14.50 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
