What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cosmetologist / Barber Shop Location Manager position at Ray'z Barber Shop?
Ray'z Barber Shop is a neighborhood barber shop. We require our staff to love what they do. We offer flexible schedules, Early outs on weekends, GREAT commissions structures, and set weekly schedules. we are also CLOSED on SUNDAYS!
Some of the duties include:
The Shop Manager is expected to operate the location with an ownership mentality—identifying problems, finding solutions, developing the team, and continuously looking for ways to improve the customer experience and profitability of the shop. We are NOT a corporate shop. Ray'z is opening its 8th location.
Welcome clients as they arrive in the barbershop and engage them in conversation to determine their needs (No scripted conversations)
Lead day-to-day operations of the barber shop and ensure the location operates efficiently and professionally.
Create a positive, team-oriented work environment focused on professionalism, respect, and customer service.
Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, productivity, appearance, and workplace conduct.
Assist with employee scheduling and ensure proper staffing levels based on business needs.
Help recruit, interview, onboard, and train new barbers and team members.
Monitor appointment schedules, walk-in traffic, wait times, and barber availability throughout the day.
Help increase client retention, rebooking, and overall shop traffic.
Ensure cash-handling, register, payment, discount, and closing procedures are followed accurately.
Maintain proper inventory levels for barber supplies, retail products, cleaning products, and operational supplies.
Handle customer questions, concerns, complaints, and service recovery in a professional manner.
Encourage positive reviews and help maintain the shop's reputation within the community.
Support local marketing, promotions, community events, and Ray’z Barber Shop initiatives.
Communicate company updates, expectations, promotions, and operational changes to the team.
Work closely with ownership and upper management regarding staffing, performance, customer feedback, and location needs.
Experience: Iowa/ Illinois Barber or Cosmetology License
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
