Ray Therapeutics, Inc. is a clinical stage biotechnology company developing best-in-class vision restoration therapies for people with degenerative retinal diseases independent of genetic mutation.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Executive Director of Patient Advocacy to join our team in the mission to restore vision to patients. This role will report to the Chief Scientific Officer and act as a critical bridge to build relationships with advocacy groups, educate communities, and gain insights into the patient experience.
The role is based in Berkeley, CA. West Coast location preferred, but can be remote for the right candidate. Domestic travel is targeted at 10-15%.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create and execute advocacy plans to incorporate patient perspectives into research, development, and commercialization.
- Enhances clinical trial enrollment by building trust, reducing logistical barriers, and ensuring patient-centric trial design, ultimately speeding up recruitment and improving retention.
- Build and manage partnerships with patient advocacy organizations and KOLs (Key Opinion Leaders).
- Outstanding communication skills, including sophisticated online and social media strategies. Develop educational materials for patients, caregivers, and internal teams regarding diseases and clinical trials.
- Ensure all activities adhere to legal and regulatory frameworks for industry-patient interactions.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Requires 5-8 years of experience in patient advocacy, communications, or healthcare. Biotech industry experience strongly preferred. BA / BS degree or higher is required.
- Strong knowledge of Ophthalmology or related Rare Disease experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience enrolling patients in required therapeutic areas.
- Hands-on experience understanding patient needs, the healthcare landscape, and working with nonprofit organizations or clinical settings.
- Ability to build relationships with empathy, trust, and professionalism with patients, caregivers, and advocacy leaders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting and creating educational content.
- Comfortable working as a self-initiator or in a large team environment
- Excellent Scientific knowledge and acumen.
