Job Summary
The Admissions Coordinator plays a vital role in the healthcare facility by managing the intake process for patients. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who possesses strong organizational skills and is adept at navigating various electronic medical record (EMR) systems. The Admissions Coordinator will ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while providing exceptional patient service and support. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical collections, coding, and administrative tasks within a clinical environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage patient admissions and ensure accurate documentation of patient information.
- Conduct insurance verification and facilitate the billing process and assist with authorizations / pre authorizations.
- Utilize EMR systems such as Lightening Step, Dazos, and CollabMD
- Review care plans and ensure compliance with medical terminology standards including ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, and HIPAA regulations.
- Provide clerical support including filing, typing, and managing multi-line phone systems.
- Assist in scheduling appointments and coordinating with other departments to streamline patient flow.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient records and adhere to health information management protocols.
- Collaborate with clinical and medical staff to ensure efficient admissions processes and address any issues that arise.
- Assist with referrals of patients to a higher level of care
- Complete biopsychosocial assessments as needed
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office or clinic setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical billing, coding (ICD coding), and insurance processes.
- Familiarity with EMR systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and strong computer skills are essential.
- Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills are required for effective communication with patients.
- Ability to handle clerical tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience with filing systems and office management practices is beneficial.
- Hold a CDCA in good standing with the state of Ohio
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
