The start date for this position is July, 2026. We offer a competitive starting salary of $90,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a full-time role that includes a comprehensive benefits package and eligibility for the New Hampshire Retirement System.

POSITION TITLE:  ASSOCIATE PRINCIPAL

General Purpose:

This position supports the Principal in the effective administration of the school, assists the Principal with the management and control of resources, activities, and assigned personnel as required, and acts in the capacity of the Principal during the Principal’s absence from duty.

Teaching Staff, Paraprofessionals, Administrative Assistants, School Monitors, and Substitutes

 

 

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position.

 

  1. Instructional Leadership & Vision

Aligns with NH Ed 304.01: Vision, Learning, and School Culture

  • Best Practices: Facilitates the development and implementation of instructional best practices to ensure student success in elementary education.
  • Instructional Supervision: Assists the Principal in the formal evaluation process, conducting observations, post-conferences, and promoting professional growth through methodology and technique coaching.
  • Professional Development: Assists in setting long- and short-term teacher goals and plans in-service training programs to enhance staff development.
  • Curriculum & Planning: Participates in developing programs of study consistent with state mandates and facilitates faculty, grade-level, and curriculum development meetings.
  • Staff Growth: Nurtures a school culture conducive to learning and professional development while assisting in the orientation and supervision of new teachers and substitutes.
  1. Management and Control

Aligns with NH Ed 304.01: Management and Operations

  • Organizational Oversight: Assists with school operations, including the preparation for the opening and closing of school and the development of the master schedule.
  • Personnel Management: Assists with the administration, evaluation, and supervision of all school staff (custodial, paraprofessional, and administrative) and communicates personnel issues to the Principal.
  • Policy & Compliance: Interprets and clarifies local and district-wide policies (SAU 70), ensuring strict compliance and completing all reports necessary to the office.
  • Facility & Safety: Inspects the building frequently for physical damages and may help coordinate all emergency response activities, including fire, civil defense, and bus drills.
  • Financial & Resource Oversight: Assists with the annual budget and student accounts; directs special duty assignments for teachers and support staff.
  • Auxiliary Liaison: May functions as the primary liaison for before/after school programs, transportation, food services, and co-curricular activities.

III. Student Management & Environment

Aligns with NH Ed 304.01: Promoting the Success of All Students

  • Disciplinary Functions: Assumes responsibility for school disciplinary functions and oversees student behavior plans and restorative practices in conjunction with the Principal.
  • Attendance: Establishes and monitors attendance procedures in conjunction with the Principal.
  • Student Programs: Supervises student assembly programs, drama, speech, and music productions to ensure a well-rounded school environment.
  1. Community & Ethical Leadership

Aligns with NH Ed 304.01: Community Collaboration & Legal Context

  • Public Relations: Assists the Principal in implementing a system of parent conferences and reports regarding student progress and the overall school program.
  • Communication: Prepares and circulates bulletins and notices on instructional matters and assists in general school-wide public relations.
  • Community Engagement: Participates in P.T.O. meetings and other community activities to mobilize resources and respond to diverse community interests.
  • Ethical Context: Acts within the larger legal and cultural context of the district, ensuring all actions comply with state mandates and SAU 70 objectives.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Master's Degree or the equivalent, or evidence of working toward such with emphasis in administration and supervision.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience as a successful teacher, five (5) years of experience preferred.
  • Applicants with supervisory, administration, and/or research experience in education preferred.

 

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, direct, evaluate, control, and manage the school’s activities of student, teachers, and other personnel assigned to the respective school
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Ability to remain calm in difficult situations
  • Ability to successfully multi-task within role
  • Ability to accurately and expeditiously type correspondence, reports and memoranda according to standard business practices
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures and instructions
  • Ability to operate a personal computer using standard or customized software applications appropriate to the assigned tasks



LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Holds, has held, or is eligible for a valid New Hampshire educator certificate with an endorsement in a teaching area
  • Holds a valid New Hampshire certificate as Principal or Statement of Eligibility
