Position Summary
The Field Equipment Support Technician is responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance on construction equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime. This role supports the Equipment Team by servicing machines in the field and identifying potential mechanical issues before they become major failures. They also can serve as an operator onsite as needed running support equipment (i.e. water trucks, rollers, etc.).
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily fueling, greasing, and fluid checks on heavy equipment (excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, etc.)
- Conduct preventative maintenance including:
- Oil changes and filter replacements
- Lubrication of all grease points
- Inspection of hoses, seals, and components
- Operate fuel/lube truck to service equipment on job sites
- Maintain accurate service logs and maintenance records
- Monitor equipment condition and report deficiencies or repair needs to mechanics/supervisors
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of service truck, tools, and storage areas
- Manage inventory of fuel, oils, grease, and filters
- Follow all safety, environmental, and company policies and procedures
- Assist mechanics and equipment team with additional tasks as needed
- Operate equipment as needed
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience working with heavy equipment or construction equipment (preferred)
- Basic mechanical knowledge (diesel equipment strongly preferred)
- Ability to perform routine maintenance tasks independently
- Experience operating or willingness to learn fuel/lube truck operations
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred, but not required)
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and jobsite conditions
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly
- Ability to bend, climb, kneel, and work around heavy machinery
- Comfortable working in outdoor construction environments
