RAWLE & HENDERSON LLP, the nation’s oldest law firm, is seeking an experienced Cash Receipts Specialist with a minimum of three years’ experience for our Philadelphia office.
This position is responsible for the accurate and timely processing, application, reconciliation, and analysis of client payments. The successful candidate will work closely with our Accounting Department, Billing, Collections, attorneys, and clients to ensure the integrity of the Firm’s accounts receivable records while assisting with transactions involving both the Firm’s operating account and client trust (IOLTA) account.
Work Location: This is a full-time in-office position based in Philadelphia, PA, requiring five (5) days per week onsite.
Responsibilities include:
- Process and apply client payments received by check, ACH, wire transfer, and remote deposit.
- Research and resolve unapplied cash, unidentified receipts, short payments, overpayments, duplicate payments, and other payment discrepancies.
- Apply payments involving split billing, cost-sharing arrangements, and other complex client billing structures.
- Process and document transactions involving the Firm’s operating and client trust (IOLTA) accounts, maintaining appropriate supporting documentation.
- Prepare daily cash reports and other accounting reports.
- Research electronic billing portals and client payment websites to obtain remittance information.
- Reconcile cash receipts and other assigned accounting transactions.
- Work collaboratively with Billing, Collections, Records, attorneys, and clients to resolve payment application issues.
- Assist the Controller and Senior Accountant with reconciliations, audits, special projects, and other accounting initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years of accounting experience, preferably in a law firm or other professional services environment.
- Experience processing remote deposits and applying client payments.
- Experience with split billing, cost-sharing payors, and complex billing arrangements preferred.
- Working knowledge of client trust (IOLTA) accounting preferred.
- Experience with electronic billing platforms and payment portals.
- Aderant Expert experience is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
