What are the responsibilities and job description for the Print Supervisor position at RAVEN PMG?
Raven is seeking a highly organized and skilled Print Supervisor to spearhead our in-house printing operations and elevate our fabrication capabilities. This crucial role ensures the seamless execution of all print projects, from initial client consultation and prepress preparation to quality control, maintenance, and final installation, driving efficiency and excellence across our production workflow.
Core Responsibilities:
Coordinates with client and Account Manager on:
- Proper file formatting and sizing
- Print process and material choices
- Sampling
Coordinates with Account Managers on sales consultations with clients
- Develops Print Intake Pipeline and Queue
- Provides expert advice on printing services proposition
Coordinates with Design to ensure that digital assets are in-line with the planned fabricated items on which they will be installed (ie measuring twice, printing once)
Performs Prepress Operations for all Raven projects (if in-house)
- Reformats files as required
- Utilizes RIP software to prepare for printing
- Creates proofs for all prints
- Tasks Print Operator in Buildertrend for all jobs
Performs Print Operations including Installation
- Books printing installers when normal print shop bandwidth is exceeded or normal printing operations happen at the same time
- Schedules and coordinates the assignment of print installers when the standard print shop capacity is exceeded or multiple printing operations occur simultaneously
Orders Prints from Outside Vendors
- Utilize third-party printing exclusively when Raven Printing has exceeded its internal capacity or for specialty print jobs that cannot be managed in-house
Organizes all work in the project management software (Buildertrend or Other)
Maintains Printers
- Creates and monitors maintenance schedules
- Maintains Ink Stock and other consumables
- Removes, Replaces and Disposes of Ink and other consumables
- Understands printer troubleshooting
- Develops and Maintains relationships with vendors
Maintains Print Material Stock
- Orders material prior to running out
- Researches pricing and availability
- Develops and Maintains relationships with vendors
Graphic Design
- Formats marketing materials for Raven
- Collaborates with Marketing Division to devise print and graphic marketing strategies
Additional Responsibilities:
- Performs installation team based duties when printing jobs/volume allow
- Provides vinyl installation training to installation team regularly through printing and installing large format graphics all over the shop in coordination with the Marketing Team’s designs
- Provide training to operators as team expands
Key Qualifications
- 3-5 years in print production and 1-3 years management experience
- Experience with a variety substrates and fabrication methods
- Proficiency in print software
- Understanding of color management and quality control standards
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment, workflow issues, and material defects
- Strong communication between design, sales, and fabrication teams
- Training and mentoring employees on best practices
- Ability to schedule jobs and meet tight deadlines
- Understanding cost control and production budgets
- Experience with production planning and job tracking
- Ability to perform under pressure in fast paced environments
