Functions and Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret complex drawings, weld procedure specifications (WPS), and welding symbols
- Ability to interpret welding code specifications
- Weld inspection tool usage: fillet gauge, V-WAC gauge, combination square, protractor, caliper, tape measure, flashlight, mirror, magnifying glass, temperature crayon, borescope
- Ability to determine welding requirements for Estimating and Sales
- Ability to answer welding-related questions or know where to direct questions
- Fully inspect weldments and sub-weldments
- Document results of inspections, including VT reports and weld maps
- Communicate welding nonconformances to Welding Supervisor, Welding Trainer, Welder Development Coordinator, Lead Weld Inspector
- Maintain material certifications and inspection documentation
- Label nonconforming parts
- Use calibrated measuring equipment where applicable
- Follow all safety procedures
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment is required
- Good verbal and written communication skills is required
Minimum Requirements of Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
Must be a US citizen.
Education:
- GED/High School Diploma/Technical Degree
Experience:
- 1-3 Years welding - preferred
- 6 Years welding inspection experience - required
- 3 Years of dimensional inspection experience - required
Specialized Experience:
- AWS CWI or ASNT VT Level II – required
- Ability to be certified to ASNT VT Level II in-house within 30 days of hire
