The Network & Security Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, securing, managing, and optimizing the organization's enterprise network infrastructure across corporate offices, branches, data centers, and cloud environments. This role applies cybersecurity best practices and industry standards to improve network resilience, reduce risk, and ensure audit readiness. The engineer operates independently with minimal supervision, leads complex troubleshooting efforts, supports incident response activities, and leverages automation and AI-enabled tools (in accordance with organizational policy) to improve efficiency and operational maturity. This position serves as a key technical contributor to network modernization, segmentation, secure connectivity, and overall security posture.
Knowledge and Skills: | | Experience | Five years to eight years of similar or related experience. |
| | Education | (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree). |
| | Interpersonal Skills | Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication. |
| | Other Skills | ' Demonstrated experience designing and securing networks; regulated industry experience preferred. ' Strong proficiency in routing, switching, firewall administration, and wireless networking. ' Strong security knowledge including segmentation, least privilege access, secure remote access, and monitoring. ' Proven ability to work independently, prioritize, and deliver results with minimal supervision. ' Strong documentation and communication skills. ' Financial services / credit union experience. ' SD-WAN / SASE / ZTNA exposure. ' Experience with SIEM/XDR integrations and network telemetry/logging. ' Certifications strongly preferred: CCNA/CCNP, Security , Fortinet NSE / Palo Alto PCNSE; CISSP valued but not required. |
