At Ravalli Head Start, Inc., our Family & Community Partnership Advocates play a vital role in building meaningful relationships with children, families, staff, and community partners. This position supports families through strength-based engagement, advocacy, resource connection, and collaboration — helping ensure every child and family has the opportunity to succeed both in and out of the classroom.

This role works closely with families, classroom staff, contracted childcare partners, and community agencies throughout Ravalli County to promote family engagement, school readiness, parent leadership, and access to critical community resources. The position also helps coordinate parent activities, family events, fatherhood initiatives, and partnerships that strengthen outcomes for children and families.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work collaboratively with staff, contracted childcare partners, & families to implement services in Ravalli County in the following areas of the Head Start Performance Standards:
Family & Community Partnerships
- Family engagement
- Parent activities to promote child learning and development
- Family partnership services
- Parent and family engagement in education and child development services
- Family support services for health, nutrition, and mental health
- Community partnership and coordination with other early childhood and education programs
PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT & IMPLEMENTATION
FAMILY PARTNERSHIPS: Provide Strength-Based Case Management to assigned families through regular and timely contact.
- Provide strength-based family engagement services through regular and timely contact with enrolled families.
- Conduct orientation with families upon acceptance for enrollment into the Early Head Start program.
- Work with families to identify their strengths, interests, needs, and goals.
- Collaborate with other agencies to help families access services as needed.
- Work collaboratively with other staff to support goals and needs of enrolled families.
- Ensure follow-up and ongoing contact with families to support the family unit and comply with Head Start regulations.
- Conduct regular visits in classrooms and to contracted child care partnerships and be available to coworkers and families.
- Work with staff and families to coordinate smooth transitions to children’s next placement.
- Ensure collaborative programing and tracking systems are completed to meet the Head Start requirements.
- Work with staff and contracted child care partners to plan and facilitate family education opportunities, Parent Committee meetings and participation, fatherhood activities, and other family events.
- Attend community collaborative groups and represent RHS, Inc. at community events as needed.
- Assist in developing and sustaining relationships with community partners that will benefit RHS, Inc. and help meet family’s needs.
- Assist in the coordination of volunteer services as assigned.
COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS
- Attend community collaborative groups and represent RHS, Inc. at community events as needed.
- Assist in developing new partnerships that will benefit RHS, Inc. and help meet family’s needs.
- Work closely with MT DPHHS Best Beginnings Child Care Scholarship Program and Child Care Resources to support family enrollment.
PARENT INVOLVEMENT & COMMUNICATION
- Facilitate parent involvement/engagement and encourage parents to participate in program activities.
- Conduct orientations with assigned families upon acceptance.
- Work with staff to plan and facilitate parent education opportunities, Parent Committee meetings and participation, fatherhood activities, and other family events.
- Assist in the coordination of volunteer services as assigned.
RECORD KEEPING
- Assist in continuous monitoring and evaluation of activities within the program.
- Keep complete records and documentation of all contacts with parents/families.
- Maintain updated family services documentation and reports in database, as required.
- Work collaboratively with staff, families, and volunteers to collect federal in-kind match (time, mileage, cash & material donations)
SPECIAL AND/OR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- May be required to alter scheduled hours as necessary.
- Must provide proof of Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccination and documentation of receipt of a Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (Tdap) vaccination.
- Must have a valid Montana Driver’s License and proof of auto insurance.
- Must have a telephone or other means of immediate communication.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Sufficient mobility and strength to perform job duties.
- Sufficient vision and hearing to perform job duties.
- Sufficient manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination to perform job duties.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The above knowledge, skills and abilities are usually acquired through a degree or certification in social work, human services, family services or a related field. Combinations of education and experience, which could provide these knowledge, skills and abilities, will be evaluated on an individual basis.
