The Project/Process Engineer leads capital projects and drives continuous improvement to optimize safety, quality, efficiency, and reliability at the Manchester, TN facility. The role supports daily mechanical, electrical, and process operations, ensuring consistent product quality through Control Plans and Standard Operating Conditions (SOCs). Success is measured by reduced rejects and complaints, increased Job Rate, reduced Yield Loss, and improved Cpk. Reports to Jason Jacobs, with oversight from Juan Cardenas, Director of Engineering.

Areas of Responsibility / Tasks
- Engineering Design & Technical Expertise
- Design, develop, and control mechanical systems (pneumatic conveying, compressed air, process water, cooling systems).
- Create/maintain engineering documentation (PFDs, P&IDs, drawings for custom metal components).
- Review/approve vendor equipment designs and shop drawings.
- Support equipment/process design during project phases (scope, budgeting, schedule).
- Optimize plant workflow, process layouts, equipment configurations.
- Troubleshoot using data, lead RCA, CAPA, and continuous improvement.
- Process Control & Product Consistency
- Develop/maintain/enforce Control Plans and SOCs for product quality.
- Ensure production lines “start where they stopped” with accurate SOCs.
- Supervise process parameters for repeatability/spec adherence.
- Support customer formulation consistency, coordinate with teams.
- Use Voice of Customer and data to identify improvements.
- Electrical, Controls & Automation
- Read/design/modify electrical schematics and wiring diagrams (AutoCAD Electrical).
- Expertise in control panel layout, motor control, power distribution, I/O wiring, compliance (NFPA 79, NEC, UL 508A).
- Design/troubleshoot industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profinet, DeviceNet).
- Develop/integrate HMI/SCADA systems (FactoryTalk View, Ignition, Wonderware, WinCC).
- Knowledge of safety PLCs, servo/motion control, networking, Industry 4.0.
- Experience in PLC platforms (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, Schneider, Beckhoff/TwinCAT).
- Polymer Processing & Mechanical Systems (Preferred)
- Knowledge of twin-screw polymer compounding, conveying systems, plastics recycling, pigment/polymer blending.
- Support/optimize polymer formulations and compounding (TPE, PP, PE, PVC, TPV, ABS, Nylon, etc.).
- Safety, Environmental & Compliance
- Promote safe operating practices, transfer best practices.
- Collaborate with Safety & Environmental Coordinator for PPE/environmental controls.
- Ensure engineering/process changes align with regulatory, environmental, corporate requirements.
- Uphold Ravago’s Code of Conduct and compliance.
- Operations Support & Continuous Improvement
- Support CAPEX project execution (specification, design reviews, commissioning, start-up).
- Drive improvements to Job Rate, Yield Loss, Quality, Safety via CIT leadership and MBWA.
- Support ERP systems and plant documentation (Control Plans, SOCs, audits, requisitions).
- Maintain cross-functional collaboration.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Process, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred; or two-year technical degree with 5 years equivalent experience.
- Proven manufacturing experience with hands-on, shop-floor engagement.
- Success leading/completing large capital projects ($1M ) on time, on budget, safely.
- Proficiency in PLC/HMI programming, familiarity with ERP systems.
- Strong leadership (“sell, not tell”), MBWA.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, people-management skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Adherence to high ethical standards and Code of Conduct.
