Position Summary

The VIE Data Engineering, Operational Excellence Project Manager plays a strategic role at the intersection of data, technology, and operational performance. The position is responsible for driving business transformation initiatives through data analytics, process improvement, technology deployment, automation, and operational excellence programs across RATP Dev USA.

The successful candidate will partner with Operations, Maintenance, Safety, HR, Finance, IT, Procurement, and Business Development teams to improve operational performance, standardize processes, enhance decision-making capabilities, and support strategic growth. The role combines hands-on data engineering expertise with continuous improvement methodologies to deliver measurable business impact.

Key Objectives

  • Build and maintain robust data infrastructure supporting business intelligence and future AI initiatives.
  • Strengthen data governance, quality, and reliability across business systems.
  • Standardize processes, SOPs, and operational best practices across locations.
  • Improve operational efficiency, service delivery, and network performance.
  • Enhance organizational visibility through data-driven reporting and executive dashboards.
  • Deliver cost reduction and productivity improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Data Engineering & Analytics

  • Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end data pipelines from source systems to reporting platforms and future machine-learning applications.
  • Develop scalable data architectures using modern cloud and analytics platforms (AWS, Airflow, dbt, Snowflake).
  • Ensure reliability, performance, and scalability of data infrastructure.
  • Build operational dashboards, executive scorecards, and KPI reporting tools.
  • Translate complex datasets into actionable business insights supporting operational and strategic decisions.
  • Evaluate operational systems and technologies to identify enhancement opportunities.
  • Lead deployment of digital tools, automation solutions, AI initiatives, and operational technologies.
  • Support deployment of technology solutions across operating locations.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives across bus and rail operations.
  • Conduct process mapping, workflow redesign, and business process reengineering projects.
  • Develop, standardize, and maintain SOPs, operational playbooks, and performance standards.
  • Identify and implement cost-reduction, productivity, and efficiency improvement opportunities.
  • Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies to achieve measurable business outcomes.
  • Manage cross-functional business transformation projects from conception through implementation.
  • Coordinate stakeholders across Operations, Maintenance, Safety, Finance, HR, IT, and Procurement.

VIE CONDITIONS

  • To become a Volontaire International en Entreprise (V.I.E.), make sure you meet the following criteria:
  • Be at least 18 years old and have not yet celebrated your 29th birthday: you must be 28 at the time of your departure on assignment,
  • Be of French nationality or a citizen of a European Economic Area country.
  • If you are of French nationality or dual nationality, attended France's national service obligations (Numéro Identifiant Défense).
  • Have a clean criminal record.
  • Be able to devote 100% of your time to the assignment: no part-time work, entrepreneurship, studies, or income-generating activities are possible in parallel with your V.I.E. assignment.

Profil De Candidat Recherché

Education

  • Master’s Degree in Data Engineering, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, Operations Management, Business Analytics, Computer Science or related field

Experience

  • Data Engineering, Operations Excellence, Continuous Improvement, Industrial Engineering, Business Transformation, Operational Analytics, Management Consulting, Process Improvement, Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional projects and delivering measurable business results.
