Summary of Job:
We are seeking a versatile and detail-oriented CNC Machinist / Router Operator to specialize in cutting and shaping insulation composite boards. This role primarily operates CNC mills and CNC routers. Due to the nature of composite materials, this position requires working in a dusty environment and the mandatory use of dust respirators in designated areas. As a key team player in our shop, you will also assist with post-processing tasks, including part cleaning, dipping, and oven operations during production pauses or when extra help is needed.
Job Responsibilities:
Includes the following (other duties may be assigned):
- CNC Operation: Set up and operate CNC routers and mills to cut composite insulation materials.
- Post-Processing & Finishing: Clean machined parts, dip components into a specialty rigidizing solution, and operate ovens for drying parts.
- Dust & Safety Management: Wear required dust respirators and PPE consistently to manage composite dust and chemical exposure.
- Blueprint Reading: Interpret technical drawings and program files to execute precise cuts.
- Material Handling: Load, secure, and align large composite boards onto machine beds safely.
- Quality Inspection: Use calipers and tape measures to verify part dimensions against tolerances.
- Cross-Functional Support: Assist with miscellaneous shop tasks, maintenance, or other production areas when CNC lines are slow or as needed.
Education:
High school or equivalent (Required)
Skills & Experience:
- Experience: 1–2 years operating CNC routers or CNC milling machines.
- Flexibility: Willingness to perform varied hands-on production tasks outside of CNC operation.
- Software: Mastercam experience is a plus, but it is not a requirement for this role.
- Material Knowledge: Previous experience cutting composites, fiberglass, plastics, or wood is highly preferred but not a must.
- Physical Requirements: Must pass a respiratory fit test and medical evaluation to wear a dust respirator daily. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.
