Purpose:
The HR Generalist is responsible for assisting with a variety of HR functions across the organization with a focus on benefits administration, health and wellness programs, leave administration, performance management and overall positive employee engagement. This hybrid role is expected to be onsite in our Pittsburgh, PA location at least 2 days per week. The HR Generalist reports to the Director, Human Resources.

This job operates in a professional office environment and teleworking from the employee’s home address listed in their employment file. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. When telecommuting employees must have reliable internet access in order to access required systems and software associated with the position's responsibilities. The amount of time the employee is expected to work per day or pay period will not change as a result of participation in the teleworking program. Employees are responsible for the set-up of their home office environment, including physical set-up, internet connection, phone line, electricity, good lighting, comfortable temperature, furniture, etc. Employee’s teleworking space should be separate and distinct from their “home space” and allow for privacy. RareMed expects employees teleworking to be as efficient and professional as if they were in the office. The amount of time spent in office or teleworking is contingent upon the needs/priorities of RareMed and will vary based on those needs/priorities.

Responsibilities:
- Manage and administer employee benefits programs by assessing benefit needs and trends; recommend benefit programs to leadership; design and conduct educational programs on benefits
- Coordinate benefit enrollment process for new hires and employees with qualifying events
- Prepare and support benefit open enrollment process annually including system setup in HRIS
- Coordinate administration of FMLA/LOA process including obtaining appropriate documentation and determination outcome
- Manage the HRIS System, and partner with HRIS on system improvement initiatives
- Manage the onboarding process, including induction to the HRIS system, coordination and delivery of employee orientation, and new hire benefit enrollments
- Assist with the offboarding process including conducting exit interviews, coordinating equipment return and administering the COBRA process
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance
- Assist in the administration of annual performance review processes through the HRIS system
- Serve as the first point of contact for any HR related questions, providing expert advice
- Other duties as assigned
- Associate degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- 3-5 years’ experience in Human Resources related experience, with an emphasis in employee benefits administration
- Extensive knowledge of employee benefit plan design, policies, and regulations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
- Demonstrated ability to plan and meet deadlines
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification credential
- Understanding of leave (FMLA, ADA, PFML)
- Ability to design and generate queries, reports, and export from HRIS Systems
- Strong analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, and presentation skills
