What are the responsibilities and job description for the E-commerce (Shopify) Specialist position at Rare Plant Fairy?
We're looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented E-Commerce Specialist to own the day-to-day operation and performance of our Shopify storefront. You'll be responsible for keeping our product catalog accurate and well-presented, supporting product launches, and using site data to continuously improve the customer experience and drive sales.
The ideal candidate is deeply comfortable in the Shopify backend, takes pride in a clean and polished storefront, and knows how to connect what they see in the data to what needs to change on the site.
Product & Catalog Management
- Build and maintain accurate, well-optimized product listings (descriptions, tags, pricing, inventory, SEO)
- Support product launches and seasonal initiatives, ensuring listings go live correctly and on time
- Keep the catalog clean and current, coordinating with the team on inventory status and stock-related updates
Storefront & UX
- Own the presentation of collection and product pages to create a polished, frictionless shopping experience
- Identify and implement improvements to product pages, including layout, imagery, cross-sells, and related-product placement
- Manage site navigation, search, and filtering to make it easy for customers to find what they're looking for
Data & Performance
- Use site analytics tools to understand traffic patterns and customer behavior
- Translate data into ongoing improvements to layout, copy, and site presentation
- Use behavioral insight tools to identify friction points and opportunities across the shopping experience
You'll be measured on the health and performance of the storefront: a clean, accurate catalog, smooth product launches, and steady improvement in core e-commerce metrics including conversion rate, average order value, and overall site engagement.
Must-Haves:
- Solid, hands-on experience managing a Shopify backend (products, collections, navigation, tags, apps)
- Proficiency with web analytics tools and the ability to turn data into action
- Strong attention to detail: typos, broken links, formatting issues, and pricing errors don't get past you
- Understanding of SEO best practices for product listings and e-commerce fundamentals
Nice-to-Haves:
- Basic HTML/CSS for quick styling adjustments
- Familiarity with common Shopify apps for reviews, upsells, filtering, or visual search
- Experience with behavior-tracking tools for session recordings and page optimization
