Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers and other commercial trucks, including manual transmission vehicles, across designated routes.
- Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo.
- Drive various types of trucks such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks to deliver freight efficiently.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and vehicle inspections in compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and report any maintenance issues promptly.
- Follow all traffic laws, safety procedures, and company policies to ensure safe transportation at all times.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues on the road.
Skills
- Proven experience in truck driving with a valid CDL license; familiarity with manual transmission preferred.
- Experience operating specialized trucks such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks.
- Strong knowledge of route driving and delivery procedures for freight transportation.
- Ability to load & unload freight safely using forklifts or other equipment when necessary.
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety and compliance with transportation regulations.
- Physical ability to handle freight loads and perform vehicle inspections regularly.
