Reports to: Aggregate Mine supervisor
Salary: $24.00 - $28.00
JOB SUMMARY:
Performs various manual tasks in the pits and performs related work as required. Supplement crew required to meet unusual changes in the elements – heat, cold severe weather, etc.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Loads the trucks that are hauling the product from the pits.
- Equipment proficiencies at a minimum should include Skid steer, Loader, Excavator, Scrappers and Blades
- Under the immediate direction of supervisor, the Equipment Operator safely operates plant mobile heavy equipment to include Front End Loader, Water Truck, Skid Steer, Crane, etc. to bring raw materials from pit to plant in a safe and efficient manner at maximum loading capacity. Other plant operation duties may be assigned.
- Operate equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with training and manufacturer’s instructions.
- Perform pre-shift safety inspection on the vehicle systems, equipment, and accessories.
- Comply with the Operations and Maintenance guidelines for all heavy equipment.
- Participate in routine maintenance, keep equipment clean and ensure that it is safely and securely stored.
- Perform job responsibilities safely in a busy, sometimes stressful environment.
- Operate equipment productively, year-round in all types of weather and ground conditions.
- Perform tasks that have to do with site development/heavy equipment operations as assigned or directed by the supervisor.
- Ability to communicate, follow directions and coordinate with crew members to hand or audio signals.
- Report malfunctions to supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to understand and follow instructions.
- Ability to learn the methods and practices used in the Pits.
- Ability to perform strenuous work in varying weather conditions.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Knowledge of MSHA rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment including but not limited to loaders, dozers, and hydraulic excavators and off-road haul trucks.
- Perform preventative maintenance and service mobile equipment.
- Report needed repairs to supervision.
- Ensure cargo is properly loaded according to safety requirements.
- Responsible for good housekeeping of equipment.
- Assist with plant maintenance & repairs as needed.
- Assist with operation of other equipment as needed.
- Adhere to MSHA and Raptor Materials safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Perform duties with minimum supervision.
- Ability to meet deadlines and multi-task.
- Ability to learn the methods and practices used in the Pits.
- Ability to perform strenuous work in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work 6 days a week.
- Bi-lingual a plus
Knowledge, skills, and Abilities:
- Must be able to work 12-hour shifts, weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed.
- Must be able to read equipment operating manual.
- Must be able to read and interpret gauges.
- Must be able to complete pre-shift inspection forms.
- Possess basic mathematical aptitude to complete daily reports.
- Must be able to wear all required safety equipment & PPE.
- Must be able to communicate over CB radio or with hand signals and warning sounds, with coworkers regarding movement of vehicles and mobile equipment.
- Must be service orientated with proven ability to work in a TEAM environment.
Environmental Conditions:
- Majority of work is performed outdoors.
- Exposure to elements of weather to include extremes in heat, humidity, cold, dust and moisture for extended periods.
- Occasionally/frequently exposed to rough, muddy, and icy surface conditions.
- Intermittent exposure to high noise levels and truck vibration.
- Frequent exposure to cement, concrete, admixtures, dust, diesel fuel, and other substances that may cause burns, be toxic or explosive if managed incorrectly.
