What are the responsibilities and job description for the Property Clerk position at Rappahannock?
The Rappahannock Regional Jail is seeking a Property Clerk to perform intermediate manual work ensuring the proper custody and disposition of inmate personal property, and related work as apparent or assigned.
This position works a permanent 12 hour night shift 1800 - 0600
Essential Functions include, but are not limited to:
- Maintains custody of and disposes of inmate and institution property according to established procedures.
- Prepares clothing changeovers for releases and showers; exchanges inmate clothing items at the exchange window.
- Enters personal property documentation in data base.
- Answers internal and external telephone calls; provides information as appropriate to caller.
- Stocks shelves; provides supplies and maintains inventories.
- Performs filing and copies paperwork as needed or required for daily work.
- Processes inmate request forms.
- Launders and stores inmate clothing.
- Maintains standard records and files.
Skills:
- General knowledge of record keeping methods and techniques; thorough knowledge of rules and regulations governing the custody and safekeeping of inmate and jail property.
- Ability to establish and follow routine schedules; skill in the operation of standard office and data entry equipment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and inmates.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or GED and minimal experience in customer service-related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements:
- Valid driver's license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Applicant must pass a criminal background, Drug Test, DMV check and polygraph examination.
