What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Editor position at Rappahannock Media/InsideNoVa?
One of Northern Virginia's leading media companies is seeking a part-time assistant editor to help guide our award-winning, high-end publication, Ashburn Magazine.
The assistant editor will work closely with our founding editor on numerous elements of the magazine’s content and production, including:
- Developing content ideas
- Overseeing and generating content for the “Around Ashburn” section.
- Writing additional in-depth feature articles as required.
- Helping to manage the production process, including obtaining photographs, writing cutlines and proofreading pages.
- Posting content to the magazine’s website and social media pages
The ideal candidate will have experience in local journalism or magazine journalism – either as an editor or writer. The candidate MUST live in or near the Ashburn area of Loudoun County or be intimately familiar with that community. We are not a generic lifestyle magazine – this is a magazine about the people and businesses specifically in Ashburn.
This is a part-time, work-from-home position, and you can generally make your own hours, although during production week you must be available during regular business hours.
