What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corrections Officer position at Rappahannock Juvenile Center?
Rappahannock Juvenile Center in Stafford, Virginia is currently seeking Corrections Officers for direct supervision of juvenile residents in a secure detention facility. These Essential Workers play a vital role in maintaining order and safety in a controlled environment. Must have one year of experience working with delinquent or maladjusted youth in a residential setting, or one year of experience in the field of corrections or social work. Military experience that involved extensive leadership responsibilities is a plus.
The following qualifications are required:
- A High School diploma or equivalent
- Strong leadership skills
- At least one year of experience in a corrections environment or working with delinquent or maladjusted youth
- Sound knowledge of criminal and anti-social human behavior as it relates to juvenile offenders.
- Sound decision making and crisis management skills
- Excellent communication skills in English to include verbal, written, and interpersonal
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word
- Certification in First Aid/CPR and Handle with Care or ability to obtain certification
- Must have a valid Driver’s License
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus
