Job Title: Homebound Instructor
Location: Rappahannock County Public Schools

Reports to: Director of Special Education/Designee

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

 

Job Summary:

The Homebound Teacher provides instructional services to students who are unable to attend school for medical, psychological, or other approved reasons. The teacher ensures continuity of instruction by aligning lessons with the student’s classroom curriculum, IEP, or 504 Plan, while maintaining close communication with the student’s school, family, and support staff.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized instruction in the student’s home or an approved location, following school division policies.
  • Implement lesson plans that align with the student’s current curriculum and educational goals.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure consistency of instruction and grading.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, instructional hours, and progress.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians, school staff, and administrators regarding student progress and needs.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and division guidelines for homebound instruction.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Virginia teaching license (appropriate endorsement required).
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt instruction to meet student needs.
  • Experience working with diverse learners preferred.
