What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Engineering Co-op position at Rapiscan?

- Design and construct a prototype x-ray imaging system as a part of a Research & Development project.
- Candidate should be able to design in SolidWorks CAD software, procure or print prototype partsand construct prototype assemblies.
- Project is focused on integration of prototype x-ray systems for cargo and vehicle inspection.
- The candidate should be able to communicate design work, document progress, and present results.

- It is the responsibility of every employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects in order for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem.
- Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.
- Must be enrolled in an accredited Bachelor or Master of Science degree program in either Mechanical, Civil or Aerospace engineering.
- Must be able to commit to 10-weeks starting in May or June 2026.
- Must reside within a daily commuting distance throughout internship.
- Solid foundation in mechanical design (including experience with SolidWorks) strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical design, prototyping and integration preferred.

Base salary is one component of your total rewards package.
