Job Summary And Qualifications
The Radiation Therapist will administer the actual radiation treatment as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist, and using the parameters as calculated by the Medical Physicist and Dosimetrist. The Radiation Therapist is expected to adhere to all standards of practice for the profession.

Job Summary And Qualifications
The Radiation Therapist will administer the actual radiation treatment as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist, and using the parameters as calculated by the Medical Physicist and Dosimetrist. The Radiation Therapist is expected to adhere to all standards of practice for the profession.
What you will do in this role:
- Ability to operate a Linear Accelerator safely and accurately.
- Knowledge of anatomy as it relates to radiation therapy.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and families/significant others.
- Able to modify job duties and communicate with customers in an age appropriate manner.
- Ability to interact with other departments and Cancer Center Staff.
- Ability to schedule and coordinate patient treatments and exams.
- Promotes the use of universal precautions in situations where indicated.
- Is aware of patients changing needs as treatment progresses.
- Maintains work area and treatment rooms in ready condition.
- Ability to identify potential or actual victims of abuse, and understand proper reporting mechanism.
- Provides patient, family, and/or significant other education that promotes healthy behaviors, supports recovery, and enables the patient to be involved in decisions regarding their care.
- Appropriately assesses the patient’s pain and involves the patient in effective management of the pain using age appropriate interventions.
- Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the following age groups: Adult and Geriatric.
- Machine QA and daily warm-up.
- CT Simulator daily warm-up.
- Give patient instructions of Simulation & Treatment procedures.
- Assist with CT scan for patient simulation.
- Demonstrates ability to charge all procedures.
- Perform the following treatment set-ups:
- Breast-to include 3 fields
- Pelvis-to include 6 field, 3D, and IMRT
- Head & Neck, to include IMRT
- Chest-to include oblique fields
- Abdomen
- Brain-to include whole & partial
- Electron set-up
- Fabricate immobilization devices-aquaplast, vac-lock
- Demonstrates ability to take port films and electronic portal images.
- (ARRT-R) Radiography
- (ARRT-T) Radiation Therapy, or Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
