What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chocolate Production Assistant position at Raphio Chocolate?
Primary Duties and Responsibilities (Chocolate Production):
- Bean-to-Bar Processing: Perform labor-intensive chocolate making tasks including roasting, winnowing, grinding, and tempering.
- Raw Material Handling: Execute raw bean treatments and prepare ingredients for the chocolate-making process.
- Quality Control: Maintain high standards of excellence to ensure every batch of chocolate meets Raphio’s "real and pure" requirements.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate and monitor machinery such as grinders and roasters.
- Inventory Management: Manage and update inventory for cacao beans and production supplies, reporting status to the Production Manager.
Housekeeping & Maintenance:
- Sanitation: Wash and sanitize production equipment, tools, and dishes per standard health requirements.
- Workspace Upkeep: Clean and maintain the roasting and grinding rooms, floors, and all work surfaces to the highest hygiene standards.
- Organization: Store and organize incoming deliveries of heavy ingredients and production supplies.
- Facility Care: Participate in regular cleaning and sanitization of the bathroom and common areas as scheduled.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operational Improvement: Identify ways to improve production procedures and documentation to streamline the bean-to-bar process.
- Team Support: Assist the Operations team with preparing for farmers markets or offsite events when production goals are met.
Requirements & Working Conditions
- Physical Stamina: Able to perform heavy physical work, including lifting items up to 50 lbs and standing for the duration of the shift.
- Repetitive Tasks: Ability to complete high-quality repetitive work with consistent attention to detail.
- Reliability: Must be dependable, punctual, and trustworthy.
- Team Environment: Must be a positive, team-oriented individual who is helpful to coworkers.
- Environmental Exposure: Comfortable working around loud machinery (grinders) and in environments with extremes in temperature or humidity (roasting room).
- Schedule: Ability to work core business hours; some flexibility may be required.
- Driver License: Local deliveries and errands to purchase ingredients and supplies.
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
